MCL golfers lift Nalco East Zone team title

Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL) of Sambalpur lifted the team title in the 7th Nalco East Zone Golf Tournament, which concluded at the Bhubaneswar Golf Club (BGC) course in Bhubaneswar today. The four-member MCL team, represented by A K Padhi, A K Das, B Nayak and S K Lall, topped the table with 224 points, while BGC `A’ team, comprising Devesh Sinha, Jayant Biswas, Tapan Mohanty and Ajay Dash, finished runners-up, scoring 227 points. Pawan Marwa of Beldih Club (Jamshedpur) took the prize for the best gross with 79 points. Col V K Kotwal (Konark Golf Club) emerged winner with 70 points in the zero to 18 handicap category, while the top honour in the 19 to 24 handicap category was claimed by Jayant Biswas (71 points). A total of 42 golfers, representing 14 teams of West Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand and Orissa participated in the team competition. Nalco Director Anshuman Das gave away the prizes at the closing function.
